3-year Postdoctoral position in biodistribution of therapeutics using whole-body optical imaging in vivo models

Back to Careers

We have a unique Post. Doc. Scientist position available working with cutting-edge antibody technologies that help find the best leads, bring them to the clinic and ultimately improve the lives of patients worldwide. You will have passionate colleagues with lots of open dialogue, agility, empowerment, and fun.

Preclinical animal research is a necessary element of the drug discovery process, enabling in vivo validation of new treatment options before going into human studies. With the implementation of non-invasive whole-body imaging of animals, researchers can now examine biological events in time and space, without sacrificing animals.

The In Vivo Pharmacology Departments at Symphogen are accountable for evaluating efficacy and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) properties of all newly developed molecules in the organization.

Objective:

The objective of the postdoctoral project is to optimize and develop new methodologies to measure the biodistribution of 1) therapeutics and 2) adoptively transferred immune cells in living mice. The project will also emphasize developing new applications for measuring 3) biomarkers of biological activities e.g. apoptosis and inflammation, in mice receiving therapy.

The candidate will have the opportunity to lead key activities, including some of the following:

  • Be responsible scientist for the establishment of novel methodologies for monitoring the spatiotemporal biodistribution of antibody and immune cells in mice.
  • Work effectively and goal-oriented in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Communicating results in a clear and effective manner to colleagues and management.
  • Be part of a growing community of experts in animal models and antibody therapeutics for the benefit of patients.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate needs to have experimental expertise with non-invasive optical imaging of small animals. Preferentially, the candidate will have knowledge of biodistribution and PK/PD properties of antibodies and small molecules. The candidate needs strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a team-oriented culture where knowledge sharing and idea generation with peers is key for advancing next generation antibody therapeutics.

  • A Ph.D. degree in biomedical science or other related natural science.
  • Expertise on whole-body optical imaging of small animals.
  • Knowledge into biodistribution and PK/PD analyses using animal models.
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to troubleshoot complex problems involving multiple variables.
  • Ability to evaluate data critically and independently.

 Additional qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with cell culture handling and implantation techniques on small animals.

Symphogen offers

This is a 3-year temporary position with half-term evaluation.

  • Competitive salary based on qualifications, and flexible working hours.
  • Strong cross functional teamwork, room for individual performance and development, and passionate, inspiring, and fun colleagues.
  • Strong collaboration with our colleagues in Paris, France and Boston, USA.
